Irish unemployment steady at 9.7 pct end-June as jobs growth slows

DUBLIN, June 30 (Reuters) - Ireland (Other OTC: IRLD - news) 's unemployment rate was stable at 9.7 percent at the end of June, leaving the rate little changed over the last four months following sharp falls in 2014, central statistics office data said on Tuesday.

Employment grew strongly in Ireland after the jobless rate hit a high of 15.1 percent in early 2012, when Ireland was in an international bailout programme.

The number of people in employment grew by 1,500 in the second quarter compared to 9,000 in the same quarter a year ago. (Reporting by Padraic Halpin)
