IRobot (IRBT) Reports Q3 Loss, Lags Revenue Estimates

IRobot (IRBT) came out with a quarterly loss of $1.78 per share versus the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.51. This compares to earnings of $1.67 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of -217.88%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this robotics technology company would post a loss of $1.59 per share when it actually produced a loss of $0.35, delivering a surprise of 77.99%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.

iRobot , which belongs to the Zacks Industrial Automation and Robotics industry, posted revenues of $278.19 million for the quarter ended September 2022, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 36.65%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $440.68 million. The company has not been able to beat consensus revenue estimates over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.
