Yahoo Finance Is Sourav Ganguly joining politics? This is what he had to say
Amid speculation over Indian cricket board president Sourav Ganguly joining politics ahead of the Bengal state assembly polls, Ganguly finally opened up on his future course of action in an interview with India Today on Monday.
Whether he might join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become a rallying point with the elections barely a month away.
Reportedly, the former Indian captain was approached by both Trinamool Congress and BJP.
Breaking his stoic silence over this issue, Ganguly denied such reports.
"We will see where life goes. We will see what happens next," Ganguly said when he was asked about his future plans while maintaining that his life has taken many unexpected turns. He also added that there is no pressure from the speculations surrounding him as he is always clear in his head.

In another interview with Republic's Arnab Goswami, Ganguly said that there is nothing wrong in people from other profession joining politics. "Politics is not bad. You have had so many great leaders who have influenced billions of people. Actually good people should be in politics as it affects people's life. One should be able to do what they love."
Ganguly was discharged from hospital on January 31, three days after he underwent a fresh round of angioplasty to clear clogged coronary arteries. Two more stents were implanted during the surgery.Following a mild heart attack in early January, he was diagnosed with Triple Vessel Disease. A stent was inserted into one of the blocked arteries at that time.
