Jackie O's family London apartment on sale for £25m
The former London residence of Jackie Kennedy Onassis — Jackie O — and her family is on the market for £25m ($31.2m).
The 47 Grosvenor Square first floor apartment is described by the estate agent Wetherell as “ambassadorial” and is 5,006 square feet (465.24 square metres) in size.
French Beaux-Arts architect Detmar Blow and Fenand Billerey designed the building and it wasn’t until after World War II that it was fully completed.
It has 10.3 feet high ceilings, large rooms, and south facing terrace. It is also the only apartment in the building with a balcony and is 63 feet in size.
The property has five bedrooms, four ensuite bathrooms, guest bathroom, utility room, and a walk-in storage room.
It also has three adjacent reception rooms, totalling 63ft in length, all facing the square and has an entrance hall, family kitchen, library, bar, and even a guest powder room.
“With its iconic address, balcony and terrace and garden square views this expansive Mayfair residence is the finest apartment in Grosvenor Square,” said Peter Wetherell, CEO of Wetherell.
“This is a trophy property, which would serve as an excellent long-term investment and main London residence. The apartment would benefit from a refurbishment to provide the latest specification and interior dressing but such a makeover could add an additional £1,000 per sqft to the value of the property.
“Once dominated by diplomatic buildings, Grosvenor Square is currently being returned to its residential origins, with buildings being converted into luxury apartments and new hotels, this transformation will make the square the best residential address in central London.”
