Jade Thirlwall admits it's 'been terribly emotional' announcing Little Mix's hiatus

Jade Thirlwall has admitted she and her bandmates felt "terribly emotional" announcing Little Mix's hiatus on Thursday.

Jade and her bandmates Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock confirmed long-running rumours that were going on hiatus in a statement on Thursday, with them revealing that they would be taking a break from the group after their tour in April and May 2022.

Speaking about their announcement during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Jade shared that it was an emotional decision.

"It's been terribly emotional. We've still got the tour next year and a few other bits, but it's been 10 incredible years and we always said if we're going to take a little break it would be on an incredible high, at our peak, so it seems like the right time," she explained. "We are family and love each other to bits so what's lovely is that whatever we go off and do we can support each other through it and celebrate each other - it's a lovely way to do it."

Leigh-Anne added, "It's time to spread our wings a little bit and do our individual things."

According to the Mirror, the Black Magic singers struggled to get through their track Between Us on the show so had to perform it twice, and they looked "visibly emotional" as they hugged each other while the studio audience applauded.

Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie insisted they were not splitting up in their statement on Thursday.

"Little Mix are here to stay. We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more," they wrote.

Their Confetti Tour is set to begin on 9 April in Belfast, Northern Ireland and conclude on 14 May at the O2 Arena in London.
