James Bond reunites with an old friend in new 'No Time To Die' image

Daniel Craig’s James Bond has been reunited with a classic Bond car in a new still from No Time To Die, the 25th 007 film coming to cinemas on 12 November.

The new image, shared on the official 007 social media accounts, shows the secret agent in a garage, whipping a dust sheet from a vintage Aston Martin V8 Vantage Series II.

The 1980s supercar made its Bond debut in Timothy Dalton’s 1987 film The Living Daylights, where its many gadgets included missiles, lasers, tire spikes, and a self-destruct mechanism.

It’s returning to the Bond films for the first time since then in No Time To Die, where it will be ‘poignantly brought out of retirement by Bond’, according to the official Aston Martin Magazine.

It’s one of four Aston Martin cars to feature in the film alongside the classic DB5, the flagship DBS Superleggera, and the Aston Martin Valhalla, a mid-engined hybrid hypercar.

The new image was shared to promote a tie-in with champagne brand Bollinger which is launching a Special Cuvée 007-themed gift pack. Appropriately, Bond appears to have boxes of the bubbly stacked up in his garage.

The champers is just one of many brands partnered with the film. Others include Aston Martin (obviously), Nokia, Omega, Adidas, Heineken, and Triumph Motorcycles. In 2012, while promoting Skyfall, Daniel Craig said that the mega-budgeted Bond films couldn’t be made without their many lucrative product placement deals.

“The simple fact is that, without [product placement], we couldn’t do it,” he commented. “It’s unfortunate but that’s how it is.”

The last Bond film Spectre is rumoured to have cost $300m to produce.

No Time To Die finds Daniel Craig’s James Bond retired from active service. However, he’s drawn out of retirement by Jeffrey Wright’s Felix Leiter who is on the trail of a kidnapped scientist.

The film, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM), and Universal Pictures International was written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Spectre, Skyfall), Fukunaga, Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve, Fleabag).
