Last year, reality TV star Jamie Laing was forced to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing a week before the show's launch due to injury. His replacement as Oti Mabuse's partner was Kelvin Fletcher who - of course - went on to win the series.

At the time, Jamie said: "I’m absolutely devastated that I’m unable to continue in the competition, I was so excited to hit the dance floor! I would like to wish the lovely couples all the very best and hope they enjoy their time on the show to the fullest.”

Now, Jamie is having another shot at lifting the glitter ball trophy, as it's been announced he's competing in the show this year.

“Here we go again, hopefully this time I can last long enough so my mum can see me dance," Jamie said.

"The reason I’m doing it, is to make my mum proud but all I did last year was make her even more disappointed. Let’s change that this year, can’t wait!!”

Jamie isn't the only contestant this year who's had a taste of Strictly previously.

EastEnders actor Maisie Smith has also signed up for the main series after winning the Children in Need special with Kevin Clifton last year.

Maisie said: “Get me in those sequins, I can’t wait to dive into the Strictly fancy dress box this winter! This is a dream come true.”

Jamie and Maisie join the likes of Ranvir Singh, Caroline Quentin and Nicola Adams in this year's lineup. Watch this space for more Strictly news.
