NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 16, 2014) - Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz has announced a special New York City residency in celebration of his long awaited new album. "YES!" is available now in stores and at all online retailers.
"The Five Boroughs Tour" will see Mraz -- accompanied by his "YES!" collaborators, Raining Jane -- performing shows in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, and Manhattan, a feat previously only accomplished by two other musical artists, David Bowie and NYC's own Beastie Boys. The dates begin September 17th at Brooklyn Center for Performing Arts at Brooklyn College; September 18th at The Bronx's Lehman Center for The Performing Arts; Queens College's Colden Auditorium at Kupferberg Center for the Arts on September 19th; Staten Island's historic St. George Theatre on September 20th; and last, but very definitely not least, a two night stand on the Great Stage at Radio City Music Hall, set for September 22nd and 23rd. Tickets for all NYC shows go on-sale on July 21 at 10 AM EDT. More information and ticketing details are available at www.yesnyctour.com.
Mraz announced "The Five Boroughs Tour" earlier today at a special press conference held at the world famous Empire State Building. The San Diego-based singer/songwriter is of course no stranger to the Big Apple, having previously sold out such renowned venues as Madison Square Garden and the aforementioned Radio City Music Hall.
"The Five Boroughs Tour" is part of the first North American leg of Mraz's upcoming "YES!" world tour, slated to visit an array of legendary venues around the planet through 2014 and beyond. Those dates get underway with a three night stand at the GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter's hometown's historic San Diego Civic Theater, set for August 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Mraz then continues the tour, choosing to perform in small venues and intimate theaters with several multi-day residencies through November (see attached below).
In other news, Mraz and Raining Jane are set for two high profile TV appearances, including NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, July 17th and NBC's TODAY "Toyota Concert Series" -- broadcast live from New York's Rockefeller Center -- on Friday, July 18th.
One of the world's hardest working and most beloved artists, Jason Mraz's journey has propelled him from the San Diego coffee house scene to arena, amphitheatres, and stadiums all over the world. A two-time GRAMMY® Award winner and six-time nominee, Mraz made pop history with his record-breaking classic single, "I'm Yours," while also earning platinum and multi-platinum certifications in more than 20 countries. Moreover, the San Diego-based troubadour has proven a truly diverse creative presence. A dedicated surfer, farmer/gardener, filmmaker, and photographer, Mraz is first and foremost a committed global citizen. His impassioned social activism and philanthropic efforts span wide-ranging environmental advocacy and ardent support for LGBT equality. Though it all, Jason Mraz continually confirms and celebrates music's myriad forms and miraculous power, inspiring and delighting his countless fans around the world he calls home.
