Yahoo Finance Jerry Springer got real about his infamous talk show, and hey, props for honesty
If you grew up in the 1990s, odds are you caught at least a few episode of Jerry Springer. We all knew it was less-than-educational TV, and interestingly enough, Springer himself just said The Jerry Springer Show has no redeeming social value.
Okay, it’s not like this is late-breaking news to us. We of course totally knew that the show was a total guilty pleasure and in absolutely no way fortified our minds, like say, a good old-fashioned Netflix documentary binge.
What surprised (and, dare we say it — impressed) us was that Mr. Springer himself admitted to it. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he said,
“I just do it because it’s fun to do. And I’m not that good at golf.”
He also said that he can’t even fathom retirement, and that his tombstone will probably say,
“I won’t be right back.”
LOL. Okay, Springer is kind of secretly winning us over. We like that he doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously, and that he also doesn’t seem to have deluded himself into thinking his career has been anything but exactly what it is (a big old giant ball of ridiculous).
And for that beacon of self-awareness, we must give him at least a few props. Bravo, sir. Bravo!
