Jess Phillips MP: Karren Brady 'must come clean' on Green Empire

Labour MP Jess Phillips, who also sits on the women and equalities committee, on Monday said both Baroness Brady and Sir Philip Green should break their silence over claims of sexual harassment and racial abuse at Green’s businesses.

Phillips told the Standard: “Karren Brady will still have to answer to what went on under her watch and so she should, but it is Green who is ultimately responsible and like always it feels like powerful men can get away with anything."

Brady, who is also chairman of West Ham football club, stood down on Monday as chairman of Green’s firm Taveta, along with non-executive director Sharon Brown, but gave no reason. Two weeks ago she said she has a "sense of duty" to Green's employees to stay put.

Phillips added: "It saddens me that it is the women on the management board, including Brady, standing down."

Green declined to comment.
