JK Simmons’ surprise appearance as J Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home provoked one of the most euphoric responses in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There was a very good reason for that. Simmons’ portrayal of the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, the fictional New York newspaper were Peter Parker works, in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy was widely lauded.

Unfortunately, when Raimi’s work on Spider-Man concluded and his trilogy was replaced by the Andrew Garfield-starring The Amazing Spider-Man and then Tom Holland’s Marvel incarnation, it was just assumed that we’d never get to see Simmons as Jameson again.

That was until the final scene of Far From Home, which saw Simmons’ Jameson use TheDailyBugle.net to reveal that Parker is actually Spider-Man.

But does this mean that we will get to see Simmons’ Jameson in future Spider-Man films?

Collider recently asked the actor that very question, and he mischievously responded with: “There is a distinct chance, there have been discussions, and I’m not going to say anything definitive [laughter] because I don’t know if I’m allowed to.

“But yes, I’m very optimistic that I’ll have some more JJJ in my future.”

Simmons admitted that he didn’t take any convincing to return as Jameson.

In fact, since the character was one of “the great highlights” of his life and career, the Oscar-winning star of Whiplash had actually been hoping and waiting for another opportunity to play him.

Once Marvel asked Simmons to return, he said that he was shooting his confidential Far From Home mid-credits sequence within a day or two, which managed to remain top secret all the way up until the film’s release.
