Joe Biden will sign a series of executive orders in his first days as the President of the United States as he seeks to reverse Donald Trump’s policies on issues from immigration to climate change.

On Wednesday before Biden takes office as the 46th president of America after his victory win in November last year.

In an effort to mark a clean break from the Trump era, he plans to unveil a flurry of executive orders and legislation in his first 10 days.

What executive orders will he sign?

Biden plans to return the US to the Paris climate accords and the Iran nuclear deal, overturn Trump’s travel ban against some Muslim-majority countries, restrict evictions and foreclosures under the pandemic and institute a mask mandate on federal property.

According to a memo circulated on Saturday by Ron Klain, Biden’s incoming White House chief of staff, and obtained by The New York Times, these actions will "change the course of Covid-19, combat climate change, promote racial equity and support other underserved communities, and rebuild our economy in ways that strengthen the backbone of this country: the working men and women who built our nation.

“While the policy objectives in these executive actions are bold, I want to be clear: the legal theory behind them is well-founded and represents a restoration of an appropriate, constitutional role for the president.”

The memo comes after the 78-year-old said he will push for a $1.9 trillion package of economic stimulus and coronavirus relief and promised last year to vaccine 100 million Americans in his first 100 days.

What will he do on his first day in office?

On his first day Biden is set to send an immigration bill to Congress.

He previously campaigned on a path to citizenship for the roughly 11 million people living illegally in the US, but it was unclear how quickly he would move while still battling with other priorities including the pandemic and the economy.

If successful, the legislation would be the biggest move toward granting status to people in the country illegally since President Ronald Reagan bestowed amnesty on nearly 3 million people in 1986.

What will he do on his second day in office?

Other actions include extending the pause on student loan payments and actions meant to prevent evictions and foreclosures for those struggling during the pandemic.

On Thursday, the new president’s second day in office, Mr Biden will sign orders related to the Covid-19 outbreak aimed at reopening schools and businesses and expanding virus testing, Mr Klain said.

The following day will see action on providing economic relief to those suffering the economic costs of the pandemic.

In the following week, Mr Klain said, Mr Biden would take additional actions relating to criminal justice reform, climate change and immigration — including a directive to speed the reuniting of families separated at the US-Mexico border under Mr Trump’s policies.

More actions will be added, Mr Klain said, once they clear legal review.
