Joe Lycett has recruited fellow comedians such as Noel Fielding and Rosie Jones for a cheeky response to Gal Gadot’s Imagine video.

The Wonder Woman actress was mocked on social media after she unveiled what fans called a “cringeworthy” video of her and celebrities like Natalie Portman and James Marsden each singing a line of John Lennon’s song.

Lycett responded by rounding up some of his own famous friends to film a version of Imagine, which sees plenty of the original lyrics substituted with the word “b*****d”.

Sharing the video on Instagram, the comedian – who now goes by the name Hugo Boss – wrote: “B******s. A video I made with some friends.”

Lycett’s video, which also featured the likes of Paul Chuckle and Joel Dommett, went down a storm with fans.

“I am SCREAMING at this, this is the greatest video ever,” said one person on Twitter, while another called it “the best thing to ever come out of modern Britcom”.

“I genuinely cheered,” said another. “It was like when spiderman rocked up in civil war.”

Gadot’s video did not fare quite so well.

The actress posted it online on Thursday as a way of lifting spirits amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are in this together, we will get through it together,” she wrote. “Let’s imagine together. Sing with us.”

The video saw a string of stars each singing a line from the song into their phones, with the clips strung together to make one performance.

Many fans thought it was a bit cheesy.

“The video of the celebrities singing was legitimately the worst/cringeworthy nonsense I’ve ever seen in my life,” one person tweeted, while another called it “embarrassing”.

“I got as far as line 2 of the song, then had to switch it off. Far too cringe,” said another.
