John Colley named new managing director of Majestic Wine Retail

LONDON (ShareCast) - (ShareCast News) - Majestic Wine (LSE: MJW.L - news) has appointed John Colley as managing director of Majestic Wine Retail with effect from 1 October. Colley has over 20 years of senior retail experience, most recently as chief executive officer of Praxis Netherlands, which is a Holland-based DIY chain. He also held senior positions at Kingfisher (LSE: KGF.L - news) , working as commercial and marketing director in B&Q and commercial director at Screwfix.

The company said Colley will report directly to Rowan Gormley, CEO and will be responsible for managing the Majestic Stores, including Calais. Majestic Commercial, Naked Wines and Lay and Wheeler are all run by separate managing directors.

Majestic said there is no change to current strategy plans and a further update will be provided at the interim results on 16 November.

At 1213 BST, Majestic Wine shares were up 0.5% to 370.32p.
