John Lewis launches new kidswear collectionsJohn Lewis

John Lewis has launched two new kidswear collections for spring/summer 2023 and there's good news if you're buying for older children who are no longer interested in wearing cute rainbow or unicorn motifs.

For the first time, the retailer's kids clothing will have a clear distinction between age groups following research that suggested children approaching the teenage years aren't keen on wearing clothes suited to younger ages.

With this in mind, there will now be a "youngers'"collection for children aged between two and eight, while the "tween" collection is suited to right to 14-year-olds.

The new collections, overseen by new Director of Design, Queralt Ferrer, are inspired by 90s skaters with plenty of oversized hoodies, logo tees and wide leg cargo trousers to choose from. The boys range has a touch of surf style with vertical stripes and palm prints, while the girls range is made up of casual separates such as basketball t-shirts, comfy joggers, cargo pants and a check-print jumpsuit.

With a bold colour palette of lavender, orange, yellow and turquoise alongside plenty of fun prints including tie dye and ditsy florals, it's a fun and playful collection that is all about expressing personal style and individuality.

"This new season brings a new energy to our childrenswear range; there has been a focus with the team to create collections that not only feel relevant and stylish but that also spark joy in the child wearing them," says Queralt Ferrer, Director of Design. "I am excited to see our mini-customers' reactions and to celebrate their own individuality and style."

In addition to its own brand ranges, John Lewis has launched 10 new brands including Mintie by Mint Velvet and Ted Baker for the tweens and Jojo Maman Bebe, Petit Bateau and Name It for babies and toddlers. With prices ranging from £3.50 to £38, the collections also include a number of affordable options.

Look out for those well dressed little ones this summer.
