Man, 26, charged with rape and kidnap of teenage girl in south-west London
A 26-year-old man has been charged with rape and kidnap over an alleged attack on a teenage girl in south-west London.
Kadian Nelson was arrested on Tuesday night after police urged him to hand himself in for his own safety.
It came after a teenage girl was allegedly raped in the North Place area of Mitcham, near Colliers Wood, shortly after 7am on Tuesday.
Officers had initially released an image of Nelson, who is from the Mitcham area, following the alleged attack.

After angry groups gathered at addresses in the area, police urged local residents not to take the law into their own hands.

Mitcham and Morden MP Siobhain McDonagh tweeted a statement, saying: “I’m pleased to report that a man has this morning been charged following the truly awful attack that occurred in Mitcham on Tuesday.
“All our thoughts remain with the victim. My heart goes out to her.”
Nelson, from the Mitcham area, is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
A teenage girl and her family continue to be supported by specialist officers, a Met spokesman said.
