Kate Garraway urged to dump husband Derek Draper as 'this isn't what I signed up for'
Kate Garraway has revealed her horror when she was told she could leave husband Derek Draper as being a fulltime carer, "isn't what I signed up for".
The 53-year-old TV and radio presenter opens up about her husband's year long battle with COVID-19 and its after effects in documentary Finding Derek.
Garraway reveals in the ITV show: "Somebody said to me the other day, 'You are allowed to say 'this isn't what I signed up for' and get out.'

"And I was like, 'Oh my God!' I mean, I know they meant it weirdly kindly, as if almost giving me licence. But I said, 'I can't think that! He's in there!'"
In a new teaser clip Garraway is seen shouting, "He's back!" as she speaks to Draper, 53, over video call from hospital for the first time after he woke from his coma.
Draper himself breaks down in tears as she tells him: "We've been waiting a long time to speak to you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you."
Another excerpt shows Garraway yelling: "Derek, I miss you!" as sorts through items in her home.

Speaking about the documentary on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, the former I'm A Celebrity contestant admitted here were times when she feared that though his body was alive, he was no longer there.
She said: "For such a long time that's been the horror – is he still in there, is he trapped inside, or is he gone?
"But he's even got his accent back. Even COVID can't take Chorley out! So that is just miraculous."
