Katherine Ryan has given birth to her second child, just two weeks after announcing her pregnancy.

Uploading a picture of her newborn — who's name and gender have not yet been revealed — to her Instagram stories today (Monday 14th June), the comedian and podcast host jokingly captioned the snap: "I have a really good reason why yesterday's podcast is late."

37-year-old Katherine, who hosts the Telling Everybody Everything podcast, announced the news of her surprise pregnancy back in May during a live recording, but refused to share details of her due date, to avoid comparisons to other mothers-to-be and questions about her bump size.

The star already shares 11-year-old daughter Violet from a previous relationship and entered into a civil partnership with childhood sweetheart Bobby Kootstra in 2019, after the pair rekindled their romance following 20 years apart.

During an exclusive interview with Red earlier this year, she revealed that the pair had been spending lots of quality time together during lockdown and although it's certainly 'not what you expect your first year of marriage to be,' she couldn't think of anyone better to be stuck at home with than her newlywed.

'We've certainly filled in the 20 year gaps. I know every story that I've missed, every anecdote...' she said.

Katherine revealed last year that she'd previously suffered a miscarriage, admitting Laura Whitmore's Castaway podcast that she felt 'embarrassed and shameful' about getting her hopes up about the pregnancy and 'getting excited before the loss.'

'I'm 36, I thought I was very well-versed on women's issues,' she told the Love Island presenter, 'I genuinely didn't know that a miscarriage can happen in this way.'

Despite feeling 'vulnerable' after sharing such personal news, the comedian hoped that by speaking out about her story, it might help others who've gone through the same experience.
