Katie Price’s son Harvey has had his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

The 18-year-old lives with partial blindness, Prader-Willi syndrome, autism and learning and behavioural difficulties as a result of a rare genetic disorder. He was given the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab on Friday as he qualifies as a vulnerable individual.

"It’s felt strange being in a school hall with everybody sitting on chairs in rows a metre apart," Katie, 42, shared with The Sun about their experience.

"Then a doctor speaks to tell you about the Oxford vaccine. Harvey was the youngest we saw there it was all smoothly calmly and professionally done.

"Harvey was so brave and it was over so quick everybody so helpful. It just felt like being in a film and made you realise more how serious this is."

So far, those receiving vaccines have included those over 70 and care home workers and NHS staff, as well as clinically extremely vulnerable people under 70.

Harvey and Katie recently appeared together in a well-received documentary, Katie Price: Harvey and Me, as the teenager turned 18 and the pair viewed residential colleges for him to move to in order to live a more independent life.

Sense, which supports families dealing with complex disabilities, said it had been contacted by “many” parents in a similar position to Katie after the programme aired.

The charity’s chief executive Richard Kramer said: “The programme was incredible because as well as highlighting the issues that parents of children with complex disabilities face, it also showed its joyous and rewarding moments.

“Harvey is a star, and the incredible bond between him and Katie is clear.

“By bravely opening up about her family’s experience, Katie Price has raised awareness of the pressure on families in her situation – and over the last 12 months, with many services reduced, or stopped altogether, the pressure has never been greater.”
