‘We keep reminding Russia this is Ukrainian territory’ — unoccupied frontline city under UA control

Raising the flag over the village of Topoli

Ukrainian troops control the Topoli village in Kharkiv Oblast, where they recently raised a flag, but are not permanently present, Ukrainian State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko said on national television on Nov. 12.

"The enemy has been pushed back from this area, but the situation there remains difficult. The settlement is located both near the border with Russia and in the direction of the battle line."

The Ukrainian forces permanent presence in this settlement is difficult, but it is under constant control to prevent the Russian invaders from gaining a foothold.

"Our guys keep reminding Russia that this is Ukrainian territory," Denchenko said.

The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service released a video showing its border guards raising a blue-and-yellow flag on one of the houses in the no-man’s-land frontline village of Topoli on Nov. 11.

Earlier, on Sept. 7, the Steel Border Offensive Brigade soldiers raised the Ukrainian flag in the no-man's-land villages of Stroyivka and Topoli in Kharkiv Oblast.
