The Duke of Sussex spoke about everything from The Crown to his son’s first words in a wide-ranging tell-all interview with James Corden.
The interview, filmed before Harry and Meghan confirmed they would not be returning as working members of the Royal family, also saw the duke open up about the couple’s decision to step back as a senior royal as he spoke about his life of “public service”.
Meghan, who recently announced she is pregnant, also made a small appearance in the interview, which was filmed as Harry toured LA in a double-decker bus with Corden as part of The Late Late Show.

How his relationship with Meghan ‘went from zero to 60 in the first two months’
The Duke of Sussex revealed how dating for any member of the Royal family is “flipped upside”.
He told Corden that early dates take place at home and only when they are a couple do they venture out in the couple.
This meant that Harry and Meghan were able to spend a lot of time together without any distractions.
“We went from zero to 60 in the first two months,” said Harry.
How a typical night in for them includes Meghan cooking or them ‘getting a takeaway’
When asked what a “regular night in” for the couple is like, Harry said the couple will normally make Archie’s tea, give him a bath and read him a book before he and Meghan spend time together.
How the couple now relax watching Netflix and game show Jeopardy!
After making Archie’s tea and putting to bed, Harry told Corden the couple may choose to watch the game show Jeopardy! or something on Netflix.
That Meghan calls the Prince ‘Haz’
During the 17-minute film , Harry video called Meghan.
When she asked Harry how his tour of Los Angeles was going, Meghan referred to the Duke of Sussex as “Haz”, revealing a cute nickname for the duke
Archie’s first word was ‘crocodile’ and the toddler is ‘hysterical’
Archie, who is now over a year and a half, impressively said “crocodile” as his first word, Harry told Corden.
“He's got the most amazing personality, he's already putting two, three words together, he's already singing songs. His first word was 'crocodile', three syllables,” said Harry.
How Prince Harry didn’t ‘walk away’ from royal duties
Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, announced they would be stepping back as senior royals in March 2020 and would become financially independent. Earlier this month, it was confirmed following a 12-month review period, they would not return to royal life.
When asked by Corden what life would be like for the couple post pandemic, Prince Harry replied: “I have no idea. A slightly different version, but a continuation of what we were doing back in the UK. My life is always going to be about public service, and Meghan has signed up to that and both of us enjoy doing it.”
The royal said the couple wanted to continue: “trying to bring some compassion, and make people happy and try and change the world in any small way we can.”
Corden said Prince Harry had made a “monumental decision” to “walk away” from the royal family.
The royal replied: “It was never walking away, it was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment, as I think a lot of people saw. We all know what the British press can be like, and it was destroying my mental health. I was like: ‘This is toxic.’”
Prince Harry continued: “So I did what any husband and what any father would do. It was like: ‘I need to get my family out of here.’
Prince Harry insists his life will always be dedicated to public service
The prince said: “We never walked away. As far as I am concerned whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away. I will always be contributing. My life is public service, so wherever I am in the world it is going to be the same thing.”
How the Queen bought Archie a waffle maker for Christmas
Prince Harry revealed his grandmother had asked the couple what their young son wanted for his Christmas present.
He said: “My grandmother asked what Archie wanted for Christmas… Meg said a waffle maker. So she sent us a waffle maker for Archie. He loves it. Archie wakes up in the morning and says: ‘waffle.’”
The royal revealed the family enjoy jam, berries, syrup and honey on their morning waffles, with Corden remarking he “couldn’t get his head round” the idea the Monarch had ordered a waffle maker to be delivered to Los Angeles.
How the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh use Zoom to stay in touch with the couple
Harry confirmed the Queen can use Zoom. “Yes, both my grandparents do,” he said.
But he said The Duke of Edinburgh had yet mastered leaving an online conversation.
“Instead of pressing leave, He just goes ‘doff’” - with Harry miming closing a laptop lid.
That Prince Harry doesn’t mind royal drama The Crown because it is clearly ‘fictional’
Corden asked the royal what he made of Netflix drama The Crown - which some have suggested blurs the line between fiction and historical documentary.
He said: “They don’t pretend to be news, it’s fictional but it’s loosely based on the truth. Of course it’s not strictly accurate, but loosely, it gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that.
Harry and Corden visit the Fresh Prince mansion
The Prince and Corden visited the house from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - with Harry rapping the famous theme song, which was originally performed by Will Smith.
Corden tried to convince him to buy the sprawling mansion before Harry went inside to use the bathroom.
They then video called Meghan, who in response to Corden’s suggestion they buy the house, quipped “I think we’ve done enough moving”.
Harry quips he ‘doesn’t carry cash’ because he’s a royal
At the start of the segment, Corden tells the royal to pay for his bus fare as he climbs aboard the bus. To which, Prince Harry quipped “you know us royals, we don’t carry cash”.
Harry also said it was his first time on an open-top bus because “we’re not really allowed to.”
