The Los Angeles Kings have acquired forward Brendan Lemieux from the New York Rangers in exchange for a 2021 fourth-round pick.

Lemieux recorded two goals and seven points in 31 games, along with 59 penalty minutes and will add depth to the Kings' bottom six. He spent the past three seasons with the Rangers, racking up six goals and 18 points in 59 games during the 2019-20 campaign.

Through 161 NHL games, Lemieux has cultivated a reputation for being an on-ice pest, although he's shown flashes of being able to potentially contribute as a secondary scorer as well. The 25-year-old is still perhaps best known as Claude Lemieux's son, with the elder Lemieux winning four Stanley Cups over his career and establishing himself as one of the defining agitators of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

This trade may be a sign of things to come from the Rangers ahead of the trade deadline, who are currently sitting in sixth place in the East Division.
