Born in New York and raised in Lagos and London, Teniola “Tia” Adeola returned to New York, where she graduated from The New School and later launched her eponymous fashion line during a global pandemic — an enormous challenge considering the crisis temporarily shut down clothing production worldwide. Still, Adeola stayed the course, reinventing the ruffle and gaining fans along the way. While making her mark in the fashion industry, Adeola has also sought to be more inclusive in her larger creative work — from graphic design to filmmaking — in an effort to cement Black women’s place in the world of art. In the months since, she’s caught the attention of several celebrities, including Lizzo, Dua Lipa, SZA and Gigi Hadid.
