Kobe Bryant's old 1963 Chevy Impala sold for more than $220,000 at auction

Kobe Bryant’s old 1963 Chevy Impala, which was a Christmas gift from his wife Vanessa and once featured on MTV’s “Pimp My Ride,” was sold for a hefty price tag at an auction on Monday.

The car, which was initially listed at $100,000 at Goldin Auctions, was sold for $221,400 on Monday.

Vanessa, according to Goldin Auctions, gave Kobe the car in 2006 for Christmas after taking it to West Coast Customs in Southern California — where the old MTV show used to film.

From Goldin Auctions:

“Beginning with a solid foundation of a rust-free 1963 Impala, WCC disassembled the car and blasted the body to bare metal for what would be a multi-coat paint finish in a deluxe mix of purple and royal blue that was custom blended by the renowned House of Kolor.”

The Impala has just less than 25,000 miles on it. It’s not known who specifically purchased the car.

Kobe, according to TMZ, sold the car around 2013, and it was auctioned off a year later. It’s unclear who purchased the car and then decided to sell it now.

The sale of the car comes just after the one-year anniversary of Kobe and his daughter Gianna’s death. The two, along with seven others, were killed in a helicopter crash outside of Los Angeles in January 2020.
