Alison King felt 'guilt' over safely delivering daughter on same day 'Corrie' co-star Kym Marsh lost her son

Kym Marsh has said her friend and Coronation Street colleague Alison King felt "immense guilt" when she safely delivered her daughter on the same day Marsh lost her son.

The actor's son Archie died shortly after she gave birth to him 18 weeks early on 11 February 2009. On that same day, King and her then-partner Adam Huckett welcomed daughter Daisy Mae.

The revelation came as Marsh, 44, discussed grief on new BBC daytime show, Morning Live.

"My friend Alison King, a really good friend of mine who plays Carla Connor in Coronation Street, she gave birth to her daughter on the very same day that I lost my son – literally hours apart," she shared.

"And the immense guilt that she felt at the fact that she’d delivered her baby so safely and I’d lost my son, was such a hard time for both of us.

"And actually, we bonded through that even more and, now we share the birthday pictures. I’ll light a candle for Archie, and I’ll send her a picture, and she’ll send me a picture of Daisy," Marsh added.

In the conversation, which also saw input from Gogglebox's Rev Kate Bottley, Marsh also shared that some friends didn't go to her son's funeral as they felt they "couldn't cope".

In addition to Archie, Marsh shares daughter Polly, nine, with ex-husband Jamie Lomas.

She's also mother to two older children, David, 25, and Emilie, 23, from a previous relationship with Dave Cunliffe.

The former Hear'Say star became a grandmother last year at the age of 42 when Emilie gave birth to a son.
