Following in the footsteps of The Assassination of Gianni Versace, another tragic tale from the fashion historical archive is soon to be told.

Shooting for the 2021 film, House of Gucci, has begun with an incredibly impressive cast, director and first-look images already adding intrigue and excitement for the upcoming project.

The film chronicles the famous Gucci dynasty, headed up by Guccio Gucci, and the 1995 murder of his grandson, the Italian businessman Maurizio Gucci who was an heir to the business.

Maurizio had headed up the company but was later forced to sell it, he also had a very tumultuous relationship with his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiana. And by tumultuous, we mean that Reggiana served 16 years in prison after being convicted of ordering her ex-husband's murder via a hit man. She was released in 2016.

Fame, fortune, sex, betrayal, greed and fashion are all intertwined in the true crime story making it all the more enticing for viewers. Here's everything we know about the upcoming film...

Who is the House of Gucci cast?

Playing Maurizio Gucci, who ultimately loses his life in the story, is Marriage Story and Girls actor Adam Driver. For the other half of the mind-blowing partnership, Reggiana will be played by Lady Gaga.

Also cast in the film, which is being directed by none other than Ridley Scott, is legendary actor Al Pacino who will portray Maurizio's uncle, and the eldest son of Guccio, Aldo. Menawhile, real-life Gucci favourite actor Jared Leto will portray Aldo's son and Maurizio's cousin, Paolo. Jeremy Irons will play Driver's on-screen father Rodolfo Gucci, from whom Maurizio inherited his stake in the company.

Camille Cottin also stars as Paola Franchi, who later became Maurizio's partner. Salma Hayek is another actor attached to the project, portraying Giuseppina "Pina" Auriemma a friend of Reggiana's.

Speaking to Variety in May about shooting the film, Hayek was full of praise for her co-stars - especially Gaga - telling the magazine: 'She is incredibly talented, incredibly smart. And she has on top of all that, extra abilities that not every brilliant actor has, which is she’s good with the accent... She is extraordinary improvising, and not everybody has that. She really embodies the character. Her level of commitment — I’ve only seen maybe once or twice somebody commit to a character like she does.'

Is there a trailer for House Of Gucci?

Yes.

On October 27 the production company Silverbird Film Distribution released a new trailer for the film in which Driver can be heard describing Gucci as a cake and Lady Gaga calls for 'new blood'.

On July 30, Universal released the first trailer for the upcoming movie which you can watch in full at the start of this article.

Lady Gaga - a New York Italian herself, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta - narrates the trailer with a tantalising Italian accent while Blondie's 'Heart Of Glass' plays in the background.

We see flashes of Gaga and Driver's electric chemistry, an unrecognisable Leto as Paolo, some incredible fashion looks (and perms) and already *iconic* one-liners like Gaga blessing herself with the sign of the cross and reciting: 'Father, Son and House of Gucci'.

Naturally, people have become very excited for the film since the trailer's release:

Prior to the release of the trailer on March 9, Lady Gaga shared first-look images of herself and Driver as Reggiana and Maurizio, respectively, in character set against a beautiful Alpine snowy mountain backdrop.

In the photo, Gaga - who has returned to brunette for the role - wears a fluffy white hat, black jumper and lots of gold jewellery while Driver is unrecognisable with his tousled hair combed back, thick rimmed vintage glasses on his face, a chunky cable knit sweatshirt and white ski trousers completing his look.

The picture perfect post on the singer's Instagram - captioned the post in Italian which reads 'Signore e Signora Gucci' and translates to Mr and Mrs Gucci - has already been liked 3.5 million times, encouraging some serious anticipation for the film.

When will House of Gucci be released?

As the trailer confirms, the film will hit cinemas on November 26, 2021.
