  • Lady Gaga posted a masked-up selfie on Instagram over the weekend, encouraging her followers to cover their faces as states, and countries all over the world, reopens amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

  • "Be yourself, but wear a mask! I believe in being kind to yourself, the community, and the planet," wrote Gaga alongside her post.

Lady Gaga loves a theme.

The "Stupid Love" singer took to Instagram on Sunday to show off her custom Chromatica-themed face mask while stressing the importance of wearing a face covering as states, and countries around the world, slowly reopen amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. For the safety-inclined selfie, Gaga wore her platinum locks in a chic center part, showed off mascara-doused lashes, and rocked a fashionable rock star-inspired mask, complete with spike detailing, matching chain-link adornments, and her latest album title splashed across the front in a glittery pink hue.

"Be yourself, but wear a mask! I believe in being kind to yourself, the community, and the planet. I challenge my awesome friends to show off their mask game! ❤️," wrote Gaga alongside the selfie before tagging a slew of very famous friends, including Barack and Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Ariana Grande, and Tony Bennett, encouraging them to post similar selfies and continue to spread the word.

Gaga isn't the only celebrity encouraging her followers to stay safe amid the global health crisis. Names such as Tracee Ellis Ross, Jennifer Aniston, Kerry Washington, and Harper's BAZAAR's editor in chief, Samira Nasr, all recently participated in a similar Instagram challenge promoting masking up and staying safe.
