LeBron James asked for help from his social media followers on Wednesday to solve the shooting death of an Akron, Ohio, woman.

Ericka Weems, 37, was shot dead in her Akron home, according to police. Her family found her with a gunshot wound to her head in her bedroom around 3 p.m. on Monday. Authorities ruled her death a homicide.

James made the following plea Wednesday afternoon on Twitter and Facebook:

Victim was sister of high school teammate

James’ “brother” in this case appears to be Cleveland Cavaliers director of scouting Brandon Weems, Ericka’s brother. Brandon was promoted to his position in 2017 and was with the Cavaliers at the same time as James. Brandon and James were teammates at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron.

“She just loved and cared about everybody,” Brandon Weems told Cleveland 5. “She had the biggest heart. I'm going to miss her dearly.”

Cavaliers ‘terribly saddened’ by news

The Cavaliers released a statement later Wednesday offering condolences to the Weems family.

No suspects in case

Weems’ father Darrell Weems Sr. spoke to the Akron Beacon Journal about the loss of his daughter. He last saw her on Saturday. He asked her to call her when she returned home from their visit and became concerned when she didn’t.

“She's a spectacular person,” Weems Sr. said. “I don't know why anybody would want to hurt her.”

According to Weems Sr., Ericka Weems ran a daycare in Columbus before returning to Akron to be closer to her family.

Police have not made any arrests or announced suspects.
