From Digital Spy

Legally Blonde 3 writer Mindy Kaling has teased what the expect from the third film in the trilogy, including some "fan favourite" moments.

The Office and Mindy Project star is currently working on the script for the film with Brooklyn 99 creator Dan Goor, and has spoken about her love for the Reese Witherspoon-led franchise.

"I love the franchise so much," Kaling told Access. "I love Elle Woods as a character and when Reese asked me to write it I was like, 'Absolutely!'"

She added: "I don’t know when we'll be able to shoot movies again but it would be great to, if Reese likes the script, shooting it this year would be awesome."

Kaling went on to reveal that the third film will, in some way, feature or make reference to fan favourite moments from the original movie, such as the 'bend and snap' move Elle teaches Paulette in order to attract her dashing postman.

"Bend and snap is forever," said Kaliing. "We definitely have a lot of fan favourites from the original movie."

Legally Blonde 3 is currently set for a 2022 release, but it's still unclear which of the original cast will be returning.

Luke Wilson, who starred as attorney Emmett Richmond and later Elle's husband in the first movie and the sequel, is hoping to reprise his role for the third film, but recently admitted that nothing has been confirmed.

"Of course [I'd do it]," he told Us Weekly. "As for the Legally Blonde that we're hearing about now, I don't know anything than the usual man on the street," he revealed. "And that's really the truth.

"I've heard they're writing it and trying to put it together, but they're keeping it pretty firmly under wraps."

Legally Blonde 3 is currently set for release in 2022.
