Lewis Capaldi has put his own spin on Setting Sun by The Chemical Brothers and Noel Gallagher for new YouTube Original, Birthday Song.

It was the 90s hit he was destined to play as it was the song riding high on the charts at No.1 on October 7 1996, the day the Scottish singer arrived into the world.

It comes as the Capaldi and Gallagher have had some what of a tumultuous relationship, after the latter branded the former an "idiot" in an interview last year.

The 23-year-old came back at the insults directed at him from the Mancunian musician in his typical good-humoured style, including wearing a t-shirt with Gallagher's face inside a red love heart at his Glastonbury slot last year.

However, in Birthday Song, Capaldi confirmed the spat is over between them as he shared: "It's all done now, all put to bed."

The instalment also sees the Someone You Loved hitmaker offering an insight into his own songwriting and composing process as he builds up to showing off his rendition of the track.

In addition, observations about his life and career, which coincidentally all kicked off with an Oasis cover at a talent show, are provided from the viewpoint of family and friends.

It includes the Brit Award winner’s elder brother Warren sharing that he was something of a miracle child, as he came about after their father had undergone a vasectomy.

“We got a wee surprise when Lewis popped out,” he noted.

Capaldi mused that he might end up inspiring someone else’s birthday song one day thanks to his seven weeks spent at No.1.

“Think about how many babies have been born in that space of time,” he remarked. “That is very strange - maybe one of them will be doing this in 20 years time.”
