Lincolnshire Police to look overseas for chief constable

A British police force says it is prepared to recruit from overseas for a new chief constable, following a change in regulations.

Lincolnshire's police and crime commissioner Marc Jones said the change would mean suitable candidates from the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, as well as the UK, may apply.

Mr Jones said: "The regulations allow us to advertise in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand for a chief constable replacement so we will be promoting the vacancy in those areas as well as the United Kingdom.

"I am looking for an effective, approachable leader who will be responsive to the diverse needs inside the organisation and across Lincolnshire."

The new recruit will take over from Chief Constable Neil Rhodes, who is stepping down in February after serving for 31 years.

He joined the police in 1986 after spending 10 years in retail management.
