Lisa Taddeo's Three Women is being adapted into a TV series – meet the cast
The case for Showtime's upcoming TV adaptation of Lisa Taddeo's bestselling non-fiction book Three Women has been announced.
Glow's Betty Gilpin is joining Big Little Lies star Shailene Woodley and Dewanda Wise in the series, which explores the lives, desires and sexuality of three women in the US.
Author Taddeo will serve as executive producer, alongside House of Cards writer Laura Eason, Kathy Ciric and Shameless star Emmy Rossum. Louise Friedberg is expected to direct the first two episodes.
Lisa Taddeo's Three Women: The plot
The drama centres on three women: Lina, an Indiana woman in a passionless marriage who embarks on an all-consuming affair; Sloane, an entrepreneur from the Northeast who has a committed open marriage until two strangers threaten her and her husband's non-conventional relationship; and Maggie, a student in North Dakota who accuses her married English teacher of an inappropriate relationship.
The book synopsis reads: 'All Lina wanted was to be desired. How did she end up in a marriage with two children and a husband who wouldn't touch her?
'All Maggie wanted was to be understood. How did she end up in a relationship with her teacher and then in court, a hated pariah in her small town?
'All Sloane wanted was to be admired. How did she end up a sexual object of men, including her husband, who liked to watch her have sex with other men and women?'
Shailene Woodley will take on the role of a writer named Gia, who persuades the women to share their intimate stories, and whose relationships with the trio changes her life. Gia is not in Taddeo's original book.
