Liverpool draw ‘what we dream for as kids’, says Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt

Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt says taking on Liverpool in the Premier League and coming away with a point was the stuff of childhood fantasy as the Bees continued their superb start to life in the top flight.

Thomas Frank’s side went toe-to-toe with their esteemed opponents and having taken an early lead through Ethan Pinnock, twice pegged the Reds back to earn a share of the spoils in a thrilling clash at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Midfielder Janelt, who was an unexpected breakout star during last season’s promotion-winning campaign in the Championship, scored his first Premier League goal and was left to reflect on an incredible rise.

“It was an incredible crowd today,” the German told Sky Sports. “We draw 3-3 against Liverpool, it’s what we dream for as kids.

“Before the game we said we try the best against Liverpool - one of the best teams in the world - and now we draw 3-3.

“I can’t believe it. You heard all the fans, it was my first Premier League goal and I’m proud of me.

“Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world and two times in a row they were in front and we came back. We have the mentality to score and maybe with a bit of luck we make it 4-3.”
