Liverpool will have to put their torrid Premier League form behind them today if they are to complete the job against RB Leipzig and reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 by relegation-threatened Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday, their sixth successive league defeat at Anfield, the first such run in the club’s history.

With that in mind, it is perhaps a blessing in disguise that this “home” leg is being played across the continent at a neutral venue in Budapest because of current coronavirus travel restrictions.

Despite their domestic struggles, Jurgen Klopp’s side will be warm favourite to advance, having won the first leg 2-0 last month.

Date, kick-off time and venue location

Liverpool vs RB Leipzig is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

Liverpool vs RB Leipzig team news

Liverpool were without forward Roberto Firmino for the defeat to Fulham, but will hope to have the Brazilian fit again, with his absence put down to a “minor knock”.

January signing Ozan Kabak also missed the game and is a doubt, but the likes of Sadio Mane, Fabinho and Trent Alexander-Arnold all started on the bench and should come back in.

Liverpool vs RB Leipzig prediction

Liverpool’s confidence is understandably shot but the Champions League now takes on even greater precedence in their season and could provide a welcome break from their domestic struggles.

A draw would see them comfortably through to the last-eight.
