Yahoo Finance Lizzie McGuire’s BFF Miranda Would Have Been Queer Musician in Cancelled Disney+ Revival, Writer Reveals
Following last week’s revelation that Lizzie McGuire would have hooked up with longtime crush Ethan Craft in the now-cancelled Disney+ revival, rabid fans had even more burning questions. Specifically, what about Lizzie’s BFF Miranda?
Good news: writer Jonathan Hurwitz is back with another TikTok to address that very query — or should we say “queery.” (No, no we shouldn’t. Sorry about that.)

“We talked a lot about adult Miranda, and her being a musician was part of the discussion, so someone who’s on tour with a band,” Hurwitz says. “Her being queer was also part of the discussion, so you likely would have met the woman she’s in a relationship with.”
Hurwitz doesn’t know if casting ever officially reached out to Lalaine about reprising the role, but her manager allegedly told Hurwitz at an event that she was “open to being involved.” He was “hopeful” that something could have come together, had the wheels been set into motion.

* Rather than making Lizzie and Gordo (Adam Lamberg) endgame, the writers opted for a more realistic outcome. “You grow up and sometimes you move away from your best friends and have new experiences and date other people and evolve,” Hurwitz says. “We just didn’t believe that they would be each other’s long-term partner.”
* That said, there would be at least one quick nod to The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Gordo would joke about how he and Lizzie dated on the flight back from Italy, then she dumped him at baggage claim.
* Lizzie would learn that her dad (Robert Carradine) had a heart attack, one the family chose not to tell her about, while she was living in New York.
* Lizzie and younger brother Matt (Jake Thomas) would have to “figure out how to be true friends now that they’re adults.”
* Lizzie’s nemesis Kate (Ashlie Brillaut) might have made a quick cameo at some point, though Hurwitz believes that Brillaut is now an attorney and no longer acting.
