YouTube has temporarily suspended all adverts on Logan Paul’s channel after the vlogger attracted fresh criticism over more controversial content posted since his return to the spotlight.

The video-sharing site confirmed to The Telegraph that the 22-year-old’s recent content violated its guidelines, was “unsuitable for advertisers” and “potentially damaging to the broader creator community”.

Paul made his YouTube return on 4 February following the global backlash in response to his video of a suicide victim in Japan's Aokigahara forest on 31 December.

A YouTube spokesperson told the Telegraph: “After careful consideration, we have decided to temporarily suspend ads on Logan Paul's YouTube channels.

“This is not a decision we made lightly, however, we believe he has exhibited a pattern of behaviour in his videos that makes his channel not only unsuitable for advertisers, but also potentially damaging to the broader creator community.”

According to YouTube, reasons for Paul’s suspension included him deliberately trying to monetise a video that violated its advertiser-friendly guidelines, encouraging his followers to do the dangerous Tide Pod challenge and the Tasering of a rat in another recent video.

YouTube’s advertiser policy guidelines states “serious or repeated violations” may lead to ads being disabled for a channel or suspension from the YouTube Partner Program.

Paul, who has 16 million subscribers, had promised to “think twice” about the content he uploaded before his return, however his critics argue he has not learnt his lesson.

He was criticised by youth animal rights group peta2 for a video uploaded on 5 February in which he Tasered a dead rat and scooped fish out of a koi pond.

“All animals have the ability to suffer and feel pain in the same way that human beings do. Destroying and mocking the bodies of dead animals for shocking video content is never OK. Just imagine a person shooting a Taser at a deceased dog or cat. All animals deserve respect,” said peta2.

“Repeatedly, Logan Paul has shown a serious lack of respect for all animals, both human and nonhuman. Destroying and mocking the bodies of dead animals for shocking video content is never OK.”

The YouTuber was also accused of encouraging the dangerous Tide Pod Challenge craze, which involves teenagers eating detergent capsules, after tweeting: “Swallowing 1 tide pod per retweet.”

In his latest video, Paul filmed himself confronting an intruder who had entered his home.

Before his comeback, the Ohio native told Good Morning America: “It’s not like I’m a bad guy. I’m a good guy who made a bad decision.”

The YouTube star was earlier dropped from Google’s premium advertising programme as punishment for the Japan video controversy and had a temporary “strike” placed on his account for breaching its rules on graphic content with the video.

In his comeback video, Paul boasted about gaining subscribers during his brief time away from the spotlight.

“What other YouTubers do you know can take a three-week break and still gain a million subscribers?” he proudly proclaims in the video.

He added: “I know for a fact everything I do from this point on will get criticism, it will get backlash, because I’m a very polarising dude. You either love me, or you hate me.

“So internet, please, use me, bro. Crucify me, vilify me, an I can promise you one thing, guys - I’m not going anywhere.”

Logan Paul representatives have been contacted for comment.
