Lorraine Kelly was awarded a CBE by Princess Anne yesterday (8 December) in a ceremony which took place at Windsor Castle.

The presenter wore a stunning purple dress and coordinating hat to accept the award. She attended the event alongside her husband Steve Smith, who wore a traditional Scottish kilt for the occasion.

Lorraine paired her purple ensemble with classic court heels featuring a decorative brooch, by Dune.

Her exact heels are available to buy online on the Dune website for £120 and would be ideal during party season.

Taking to Instagram to share a photograph from the important day, Lorraine admitted she was overwhelmed by the experience, captioning the image, "With my Steve at Windsor getting a CBE from the Princess Royal Princess Anne. All a bit overwhelming."

She also thanked her dress designer, milliner and glam team for helping her look her best for the day.

In the photo, Lorraine and husband Steve stand side by side and Windsor Castle can be seen in the background of the shot.

Friends and followers offered their congratulations in the comments, saying, "Congratulations! You totally deserve it," and "Congratulations, well deserved. You look beautiful, love the purple!"

Lorraine explained that it was Princess Anne who presented her with the honour at Windsor Castle.

The Princess Royal is often busy awarding MBEs and other honours during events at the castle, as well as working with the many charities and organisations of which she is a patron.

Earlier this week, Princess Anne met new graduates of the "Future Brunels" five-year education programme to congratulate them on their achievements and wish them the best in their futures.
