Lorraine cries during all-star tribute on her 60th birthday show

Lorraine Kelly told how Craig David once washed her feet for her, as the singer helped her celebrate her 60th birthday.

The Scottish-born TV presenter turns 60 at the weekend and the milestone was celebrated in a special episode of her ITV programme, Lorraine.

The show was filled with surprises, such as a kilt-wearing Ben Shephard turning up to take over, a bagpipe band and famous guests.

David, who brought so many gifts that he had to leave some backstage, was among the stars on the show and the pair revealed they shared a special bond after taking part in a charity trek for Comic Relief together in 2011.

Kelly said: “I was suffering really badly, my feet were covered in blisters, I could hardly eat, I had loads of mouth ulcers.

“Craig saw I was struggling, he picked me up… and took my shoes, my big hiking boots, and my socks off and washed my feet.

“Then he bandaged them up and then he made me a cup of tea.

“The nicest man in the world bar none.”

Another highlight saw former footballer Chris Kamara bursting out of a giant cake.

“Oh my gosh! It’s my favourite man,” Kelly squealed as Kamara popped up.

The pair giggled, saying that in another life they would be married, and Kamara joked: “We’ve still got time!”

Showbiz reporter and long-time pal Ross King joined Kelly via satellite from LA and played a video showing stars such as Emma Thompson, Dolly Parton, Ant and Dec and Boy George wishing her a happy birthday.

Simon Cowell said: “You are very feisty... well she’s fit as well, but she’s sort of turned into a legend.”

Lorraine is on ITV weekdays from 8.30am to 9.25am.
