Lorraine Kelly fans baffled by 'real name' on her vaccination card

Lorraine Kelly has shared the happy news that she has received her coronavirus vaccination – but left fans confused by the name shown on her record card.

The TV presenter is fondly known by her maiden name to viewers, sometimes abbreviated to LK, so some people were baffled as to why she was listed as "Lorraine Smith" in the photo of her vaccination card.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted the name change in the snap she shared after her appointment, but Kelly cleared things up by explaining that it was her married name.

She captioned her photo: "Vaccinated! So relieved! Easy peasy - didn’t feel a thing - thanks so much to all the cheery volunteers and NHS staff who made it SO simple!!

"Please please get vaccinated!! We are so lucky to have the opportunity Xxx."

One fan commented: "I had no idea your current surname was Smith!! My full name is Lauren Kelly & I’ve been called Lorraine Kelly (or LK today!!!) my entire life, my partners surname is Smith so I may also end up a smith one day. Twinning."

Another person commented to ask: "Who on earth is Lorraine Smith???"

One person appeared to accuse her of using a false name as he wrote: "Lorraine Smith lol how original."

But Kelly shot him down by explaining: "Smith is my married name."

Various other tweeters seemed to have missed that Kelly married her cameraman husband Steve Smith in 1992, and uses both names as her Instagram handle, as they questioned the different name on the card.

One person commented: "She's holding someone else's card, that says Lorraine Smith."

Others joked that Lorraine Kelly was simply a character that she was playing.

In one tweet, someone joked: "Actress Lorraine Smith, famous for playing TV host Lorraine Kelly on ITV's Lorraine, has been vaccinated!"

Another person commented: "or is her real name Lorraine Smith and ‘Lorraine Kelly’ the name of the character she plays on daytime tv?"
