Lotto Max Maxmillions $1,000,000 B.C. prize winner 'hadn't checked' huge jackpot tickets in wallet
Chee Yee Fong from B.C. is $1 million richer after winning a Maxmillions prize from the June 15, 2021 Lotto Max draw and since the big win, he's been dreaming about steeping up his tango skills.
“This win means that I will be able to get more tango lessons and a good instructor,” the Port Coquitlam resident said. “I am…going to invest in my health.”
Fong bought his winning ticket in Vancouver at Wayne’s Grocery and checked it a gas station during one of his daily walks.
“I remembered that I had two tickets in my wallet that I hadn’t checked yet,” he said. “I went into the gas station…the retailer checked the ticket and told me that I had won a lot of money."
Fong told his daughter about his win immediately, who said she "couldn't sleep" and "wanted to cry" when she thought about how much money her father had won.
So far this year, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $244 million in winnings from Lotto Max.
Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m. PST/10:30 p.m. EST.
