Louis Vuitton is kicking off a bumper celebration on what would have been its founder's 200th birthday. The fashion house – which will be hosting a series of celebratory activations over the next few months – has today launched a new game which is inspired by the journey Louis Vuitton made as a 14-year-old man.

Vuitton was just a teenager when he left his family home in the Jura region of France, heading off alone by foot and eventually ending up in Paris, where he went on to launch his namesake business. It is this journey which has inspired the video game. Called Louis The Game, it takes players on an action-packed adventure through six imaginary worlds that exist outside of time, where they will play as Louis Vuitton's mascot Vivienne.

Players will travel to reach the birthday celebrations, collecting as many monogram candles as they can along the way, as well as keys which will allow them to access further levels. The game is designed to be played with friends, who can all be seen on a global leaderboard, while digital artist Beeple has also created 10 non-fungible tokens which have been embedded into the game.

The house hopes that Louis The Game will give fans a new insight into the history of the brand, while showing off the innovation and creativity that it boasts.

The mobile game is just one part of a number of moments that will take place this year to celebrate the life and legacy of founder Louis Vuitton. These include; store windows that showcase the iconic trunk as a vessel reimagined by 200 contributors; a large-scale triptych of Vuitton painted by Alex Katz; a fictionalised novel by French writer Caroline Bongrand about the life and intentions of the founder, as well as Looking for Louis, a documentary that retraces the story of the young pioneer, which will be broadcast on Apple TV.
