Yahoo Finance Luka Doncic on Mavs losing streak: 'Right now, it's looking like we don't care'
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is not happy with the team’s current struggles. Following the team’s fourth-straight loss Friday, Doncic ripped the team’s effort, saying it looks like the Mavericks “don’t care” right now.
Doncic initially offered up a one-word answer when asked about the team’s play and effort in Friday’s 120-101 loss to the Utah Jazz, saying it was “terrible.” He eventually elaborated on those thoughts, saying the Mavericks look like they don’t care if they win games right now.

“Terrible,” Doncic said. “There’s really not much to say. I never felt like this. We gotta do something, because this is not looking good and we gotta step up and just talk to each other and play well better than this. It’s mostly effort.”
Doncic was asked a follow-up question about what needs to change. He answered by saying, “I would say right now it’s looking like we don’t care, honestly, if we win games or not.” He then listed all the things he wants to see from the team.
“More energy. More effort,” Doncic said. “Dive for every ball. Box out. Everything. There’s a lot of things that we can improve, and I know we will. I know we will, and that’s all that matters there.”
Mavericks stuck in miserable stretch
There’s no shame in losing to the streaking Jazz, who have won 11-straight games and lead the Western Conference, but the Mavericks have been losing to everyone lately. During the Mavericks’ four-game losing streak, the team has dropped two games to the Jazz, one game to the Houston Rockets and another to the Denver Nuggets.
Things weren’t going well for the Mavericks prior to this stretch. The team also experienced a three-game losing streak from Jan. 15 to Jan. 18. Over that period, they lost games to the Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors. The Mavericks are just 3-7 over their last 10 contests.
If there’s good news, it’s that there’s still plenty of time for Dallas to turn things around. Doncic is too talented to let the team continue down its current path.
