His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and high-level business delegation visit HPS Home Power Solutions

Berlin, 12 May 2022 –
HPS Home Power Solutions (HPS), provider of the world's first green hydrogen-based year-round electricity storage system for buildings available on the market, has received the Royal Technology Mission (RTM) delegation from Sweden. The delegation was led by His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and included board members from both leading Swedish companies and high-level scientists from the technology sector. The visit to HPS was embedded in a three-hour information program at the Adlershof Technology Park.

“The visit of this delegation with so many high-level representatives is a special recognition of our performance for us. We took this opportunity to demonstrate our year-round electricity storage system picea and the technology driving it,” explains Zeyad Abul-Ella, co-founder and CEO of HPS. “In addition, we were able to establish valuable contacts that will further strengthen our company's development. The interest and positive feedback shows the international potential of our innovative energy storage system for the global energy transition.”

Zeyad Abul-Ella presented the picea year-round electricity storage system to board members from energy supplier Vattenfall, electric car provider Polestar, truck manufacturer Scania, drive technology provider ABB Sweden, battery manufacturer Northvolt, car manufacturer SAAB and the Swedish ambassador to Germany, among others. He led the delegation through the production facilities as well as the development department and discussed the potential of hydrogen-based technologies for the energy transition.

The RTM is a week-long trip by a Swedish technology delegation organized by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering (IVA). The last time the RTM visited Germany was in 1986. The IVA is a non-profit organization with the mission to promote engineering and economic sciences and the development of industry for the benefit of society.

About picea

picea is the world's first commercially available hydrogen-based electricity storage system for buildings. The surplus energy generated by the photovoltaic system on sunny days is stored as green hydrogen and used in the dark season to supply electricity and heat. picea enables a CO2-free full supply of energy all year-round and reduces heating costs. Per year, a picea system avoids about three tons of CO2 emissions and this is equivalent to the amount that 130 spruce trees capture annually. picea has received several prestigious awards, most recently the Handelsblatt Energy Award, the smarter E Award and the Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Award.

About HPS Home Power Solutions GmbH

HPS is the world leader in the development and production of year-round electricity storage systems based on green hydrogen for homes, multi-family houses and commercial properties. HPS addresses important areas of the transition to green energy with its highly innovative picea year-round electricity storage system. Users can generate and store carbon-free energy to supply buildings with electricity and heat throughout the year. The Berlin-based company was founded in 2014 by Zeyad Abul-Ella and Dr. Henrik Colell and stands for reliability, independence and sustainability in decentralized energy systems.
