Deaths: There were 11 deaths recorded in Northern Ireland, 29 in Wales, and 56 in Scotland. The Government said a further 376 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for COVID-19.

R rate: The UK’s rate of coronavirus infection is between 1 to 1.2, but the virus is still spreading at an ‘epidemic’ speed. Last Friday the R rate for the UK was 1.1 to 1.3, a slight drop on recent weeks, with a growth rate range of 2% to 4%. Read more here.

Wales: Bodycam footage shows the moment police shut down a student party with more than 50 guests, in breach of coronavirus rules. Police tell a group of young men that they are “the future of the country, and you are messing it right up” as another demands details of their names, addresses and courses. Read more here.

Wales’s firebreak lockdown has shown positive early signs as the trend in cases is down everywhere except Ceredigion according to the country’s health minister. But he warned people not to get back to normal. Read more here.

Second lockdown: A rush to the pub the night before the second lockdown took place in England might have fuelled a rise in coronavirus cases, according to Professor Carl Heneghan, director of the Centre of Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford. He said figures were “going through the roof” but it wasn’t a surprise. Read more here.

Preparation: The UK prepared for the wrong type of pandemic according to a former chief medical officer. Dame Sally Davies is set to accuse Public Health England (PHE) of misleading the Government into practicing for the wrong pandemic, because they said a major coronavirus disease would "never travel this far". Policing: More than 800 police officers have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began, according to new figures. The figures include 228 officers from Police Scotland, 101 from West Midlands Police and 95 from Greater Manchester Police. Read more here.
