Here’s what you need to know on 19 November. This article was updated at 3.30pm.

Deaths: There were 346 deaths with coronavirus reported in England, from between 19 October and 18 November. Another 12 deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland and 50 in Scotland. Wales reported 23 deaths.

Coronavirus was the third most common cause of death in England and Wales in October, having not been in the top 10 in September. There were also nearly 3,000 more deaths than the average. Read more here.

Vaccine: Restrictions will be in place until next summer according to professor John Edmunds, a member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage). He said the vaccine rollout would not bring an end to the social distancing rules in place. Read more here.

A coronavirus vaccine candidate being developed by the University of Oxford has shown promise in the next stage of its clinical trial. After testing the jab on 560 healthy adults, of whom 240 were over 70, the Oxford scientists found the vaccine brought about a similar immune response among all the participants. Read more here.

Christmas: Plans for the festive season will be unveiled next week, Downing St has said. The government will explain the plans as part of what will happen after the end of the England lockdown. Devolved governments will set out separate plans for their regions. Read more here.

Watch: Coronavirus was third biggest cause of death in October

Business: One in seven companies is at risk of collapse according to figures from the Office of National Statistics. Some 14% of British businesses have no or low confidence they will survive the next 12 weeks. Read more here.

Treatment: An arthritis drug has shown promise among critically-ill coronavirus patients, research suggests. The NHS began administering the steroid dexamethasone after a study in June suggested the low-cost drug cut the risk of death among patients on ventilation by a third. Read more here.

Spread: Supermarkets are the most common place for catching coronavirus, according to statistics from Public Health England. Schools and hospitals follow after supermarkets. Read more here.

Test and trace: A total of 167,369 people tested positive for COVID-19 in England at least once in the week to 11 November – the highest weekly number since NHS Test and Trace was launched at the end of May. However, only around 60.5% of close contacts of people who tested positive for COVID in England were reached through the test and trace system, latest government figures show. Read more here.
