Deaths: A further 225 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, with the deaths ranging from 21 October and 2 November. There were four more deaths in Wales, six more in Northern Ireland and 28 in Scotland.

The number of weekly deaths in England involving coronavirus is at its highest since early June. A total of 978 deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending October 23 mentioned COVID-19 on the death certificate, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Read more here.

Lockdown in England: Protests of more than two people will be banned during the second coronavirus lockdown in England, the government has indicated. On Tuesday, The Times reported that home secretary Priti Patel has briefed chief constables across England and told them that police forces are expected to enforce the new rule around protests. Mass testing: Liverpool will be the first place to see a trial of mass testing as the government announced plans to test every resident even if they have no symptoms from Friday. Health: Living with young children may ward off coronavirus complications and even death, research suggests. After looking at more than 9 million adults aged 65 or under, scientists from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine found living with a child younger than 11 was linked to a 25% reduced risk of dying with the coronavirus. Entertainment: Strictly Come Dancing will continue filming during the second lockdown in England, it has been confirmed. The BBC dance show has already begun airing its live shows, with contestants and professional dancers are living in quarantine with their on-screen partners in order to go ahead during the coronavirus pandemic.
