A man has died after being stabbed in the heart near a north London Tube station.

Stefan Stelian Moraru, 44, died following an assault on Chandos Avenue, near Totteridge & Whetstone Tube station.

Police officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found the Romanian national at the scene in Barnet at roughly 6am on Monday.

Mr Moraru’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A post-mortem examination on Tuesday established a cause of death as single stab wound to the heart.

Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime are leading the investigation.
