A man has been arrested after a bomb disposal team dealt with a suspicious item at the Queen's Scottish home.
Police were called to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen's home in Edinburgh, on Tuesday evening after reports of a suspicious item.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Abbey Strand, Edinburgh, around 8.50pm on Tuesday, 23 March, following a report of a suspicious item.
"Following examination by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), it was made safe.
"A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. There was no threat to the public and enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances."
The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, 25 March.
Officers were seen searching the grounds of the palace in Edinburgh after the discovery.
They used sticks to comb the grass and the forecourt around the castle.
Others were seen looking down drains and underneath cars, with some officers putting items into plastic bags.
Police vehicles were stationed outside several entrances to the palace.
The Queen is with her husband Prince Philip in Windsor Castle at the moment, and has been there for most of the last year.
She would usually be in London or Windsor at this time of year anyway, as she spends most of her working time at Buckingham Palace.
However, she would have travelled to Windsor for Easter Court, had she not already been there.

Scotland is usually where she spends summer, heading to her private home of Balmoral for her holiday, after hosting a garden party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
The parties were postponed in 2020 and 2021, and the guests from 2020 will hopefully attend in 2022.
The Queen only spends about a week in residence at the Palace of Holyroodhouse each year, and it's usually open to tourists all year round.
It's where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding outfits were displayed in June 2019 after their ceremony the previous year.
