Harry Kane: Man City make +£100m transfer bid, but Tottenham insist star striker is not for sale

Manchester City have tested Tottenham’s resolve to keep Harry Kane with an opening bid for the striker worth £100million, plus the option of players in part exchange.

Spurs have no interest in selling the 27-year-old, who has three years remaining on his contract but wants to leave his boyhood club this summer.

Kane is fully focused on the European Championship with England and will not engage in transfer talks during the tournament, with his future set to be put on hold while England are at the Finals.

Spurs, meanwhile, are insistent that no official bid has been made for the forward, who is thought to be valued at at least £150m by the club.

Kane, who came through the ranks at Spurs, believes he has a gentleman's agreement with Daniel Levy to allow him to leave this summer, although the chairman has warned that he will "do whatever is right for the club" when it comes to deciding his future.

Levy has also hinted that incoming managing director Fabio Paratici, who is set to officially take up his position on July 1, will have a leading say in deciding the fates of the squad.

City's previous record transfer is the £65million paid for Ruben Dias last summer, although they are prepared to smash it for Kane, who would be a direct replacement for Sergio Aguero, who left City on a free transfer this month and has joined Barcelona.

Kane has previously hinted at his interest in joining City, saying Kevin de Bruyne is the one player in the world he would most like to play in front of.

It is unclear who City could potentially offer Spurs in part-exchange, although Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus are thought to be among the players who they would consider bids for this summer.

Sterling has said he is not happy with his lack of game-time at City, although the winger is unlikely to be interested in a move to manager-less Spurs, who could not afford his wages.

Tottenham are continuing their protracted search for a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho, having recently held talks with Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso.
