Man City v Tottenham: Carabao Cup Final 2021 prediction, team news, TV channel, h2h results, live stream, fans

Tottenham head into today’s Carabao Cup Final against Manchester City with renewed optimism after Ryan Mason won his first game in charge.

Jose Mourinho’s sacking has lifted the mood at the club, despite the failed Super League fiasco, and former-player-turned-coach Mason could cap a remarkable story of winning the club’s first piece of silverware in 13 years.

However, City have not lost a League Cup match since October 2016, looking to win the competition for the fifth time in six years and, remarkably, the fourth season on the trot.

Date, time and venue

Manchester City vs Tottenham is scheduled for a 4.30pm BST kick-off on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

The match will be held at Wembley Stadium, with 4,000 fans in attendance under strict coronavirus protocols.

Man City vs Spurs team news

Manchester City are ever more confident that Kevin De Bruyne will be fit after being forced off in the FA Cup semi-final, but his involvement with Champions League semi-final on the horizon is certainly not guaranteed.

Phil Foden was a standout in De Bruyne’s absence against both Chelsea and Aston Villa and should start, though Pep Guardiola must make a decision on who to play and who to rest. Gabriel Jesus could get a run out with perhaps a false nine utilised against PSG.

John Stones is suspended following his red card on Wednesday.

For Tottenham, it’s all about Harry Kane. Will he be fit and, if so, will he be fit enough? Either way, Heung-min Son will start and is expected to be supported by Gareth Bale, who once again impressed in a rare outing.

Dele Alli remains short of match fitness but will be hoping to come off the bench, meaning Giovani Lo Celso should keep his place in midfield.

In defence, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier were not the most reassuring against Southampton, with Davinson Sanchez pushing for minutes. Joe Rodon is cup-tied.

Man City vs Spurs predicted lineups

City XI (4-3-3): Steffen; Walker, Laporte, Dias, Cancelo; Rodri, Fernandinho, Gundogan; Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Foden

Spurs XI (4-2-3-1): Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Ndombele; Bale, Lo Celso, Son; Kane

Man City vs Spurs prediction

Tottenham have, arguably, had a good preparation for their trip to Wembley, with Jose Mourinho out and boyhood fan and former player Ryan Mason winning his first game in charge.

Manchester City, meanwhile, lost the FA Cup semi-final before beating Aston Villa but conceded after 20 seconds and saw John Stones sent off.

There is suddenly hope for Spurs, a damning indictment of Jose Mourinho’s managerial prowess, but City have the experience on the pitch and in the dugout. Harry Kane’s involvement will be key, but even he might not be able to stop City lifting the Cup for a fourth year in a row.
